My Caregiver Story

A community for family caregivers of stroke patients and others with disabling conditions.

Stroke affects hundreds of thousands of people each year, and countless numbers of family members who care for stroke survivors.   Family caregivers are critical to positive health outcomes, but the toll caregiving takes often goes unaddressed.

Caregiving is hard…

“In Stroke’s Shadow: My Caregiver Story” is a memoir, a personal, revealing and poignant account of the three years Kyle spent as the caregiver for her mother who suffered three strokes.

More importantly, it is a conversation starter — a vehicle for bringing people together to open up about their own experiences, as well as learn from and share coping mechanisms with others who are on the same journey.
